Bandhavgarh & Kanha (April 2019)

Bandhavgarh & Kanha Tiger Reserves

India is home to about 10% of the world’s wildlife, so needless to say it is home to a huge diversity of mammals. India is home to the highest diversity of wildcats in the world including the Royal Bengal Tiger. As per the 2016 WWF report the global population of tigers in the world has been put at 3890. Most of this population of wild tigers today lies in India with about 2200 tigers. This makes India the best destination in the world to view this majestic big cat in its natural habitat.

We have planned this itinerary to not only give you the best chance of seeing the tiger in its natural habitat but also to do so in good comfort. The parks we have envisaged for this experience are Bandhavgarh, and Kanha Tiger Reserve.

Apart from the Bengal Tiger, Leopard and the Jungle Cat, other wildlife that you will find in the region are:

Mammals: Sloth Bear, Dhole (Asiatic wild dog), Gaur (Indian bison), Flying Squirrel, Golden Jackal, Indian Fox and if lucky you might see the Indian Pangolin and the Honey Badger

Birds: Indian Peafowl, Paradise Flycatcher, Golden Oriole, Indian Pitta, 4-5 species of Woodpeckers, 3-4 species of Kingfishers, Crested Serpent Eagle, Changeable Hawk Eagle along with 250 other species of birds.

Reptiles:  Marsh Crocodile, Indian Rock Monitor, Rock Agama, Chameleon, Fan-throated Lizard, Russell’s Viper, Indian Rock Python, Spectacled Cobra and many more.
